Tragedy
“In the face of the violence that has struck our city, we do not give in to fear: we remain united in solidarity”. Monsignor Georges Pontier, Archbishop of Marseille and President of the French Bishops’ Conference, and Monsignor Jean-Marc Aveline, Auxiliary Bishop, wrote this in a statement. “We learned with great sadness of the dramatic event that took place outside of Saint-Charles train station: two young women were brutally killed and the attacker too was shot down. We express our deep closeness to the relatives and the families of the victims, while assuring them of the prayer of the Catholic community in Marseille. Our thoughts also go to the soldiers of the Sentinel Operation and all those who ensure our security”.
