Current EU presidency: Tallinn, a youth forum to discuss Europe’s future and policies for the under30s

From October 23rd to 26th, Tallinn, Estonia’s capital, will receive over 260 young people to “discuss youth policies, understand what young people are really interested in nowadays, and how to enhance it”, in the run-up to the development of the “EU Youth Strategy”. The guests (young people, young politicians, leaders of youth associations of the member states as well as from the countries of the Eastern Partnership) will work through an agenda that has no preordained items but will only provide opportunities, through different interactive methods, to “map what is important for young people in Europe today”, inspired by personal experiences and stories, and, on the basis of that, try to understand “what to do to pave the way to young people’s future”. The Estonian Prime Minister, Jüri Ratas, President Kersti Kaljulaid, and a few guests from the youth world will only speak at the opening sessions of the meeting. Another guest will be Gustav Paul Tamkivi, a very young Estonian YouTuber, with his mother, Ede Schank Tamkivi, who will tell about their experience with the GusMath channel. “The idea behind the Conference takes inspiration from the quick digital developments that have an impact on the daily life of our society, in all its dimensions”, the organisers explain, “in the belief that the future of Europe and the future of society as a whole depend on young people”. The outcome of the event will be sent to the EU Education and Youth Commissioner and young, Tibor Navracis.
