Ccee: yearly meeting of Eastern European Catholic Bishops Mgr. Lonchyna, “the mission of announcing the Gospel to every man”

“The Church believes that it is its duty and its mission to announce Christ’s Gospel to every man – the good news of a God who, out of His love for mankind, became a man, died and resurrected (kerygma) –, helping them understand their relationship and familiarity with Christ (catechesis) and leading them to live and celebrate their faith through a sacramental life (mystagogy). This was and still is the mission of the Church, and in this mission the Eastern Catholic Churches, including the Greek Catholic Church, have a specific contribution to make”. This is explained, again, by mgr. Lonchyna, in the run-up to the meeting of the Eastern European Catholic Bishops due in London from October 26th to 29th about “Announcing, knowing and living faith in Christ”. The meeting will open late in the afternoon of October 26th with an opening session that will include a presentation of the Eparchy of the Holy Family, with speeches by the apostolic nuncio to Great Britain, Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams, and by a delegate of the Bishops Conference of England and Wales. In the subsequent work sessions, the Eastern European Bishops will address the three dimensions of the evangelising mission of the Church (announcement, catechesis and celebration of the sacraments). The calendar and subjects can be consulted on the Ccee website, (www.ccee.eu).
