Council of Europe: Tbilisi, conference on the protection of human rights and tackling corruption in sport

(Strasbourg) “What measures could be taken by the public authorities to tackle breaches of human rights in sport? How can the efforts of the sports movement to protect and promote human rights be supported? What obstacles get in the way of a more effective fight against corruption in sport?”. These will be the items on the agenda of the 15th Conference of the sports ministers of the Council of Europe taking place in Tbilisi (16 October, at Hotel Biltmore, 29 Rustaveli Avenue), as part of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport. There, stock will be taken of the regulations and policies of the Council of Europe in the area of human rights and the fight against corruption in sport. The conference will be opened by the deputy general secretary, Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni (see photo), and by Georgia’s Sports Minister, Mikheil Batiashvili. Georgia’s Prime Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze, will give the opening address.
