Mons. Charles J. Scicluna

In Valletta, Malta, the diocesan Way of the Cross will open the Holy Week celebrations before the Easter Triduum. Led by the archbishop, Charles J. Scicluna, it will start at 07.30 pm and will run across the city centre to stop in front of St John’s Cathedral. It will be composed of the 14 stations that “show Jesus Christ’s sufferings”. In the run-up to the Episcopal Synod on Young People that will be held in Vatican city next October, the website of the archdiocese explains, the archbishop asked members of different groups to prepare the reflections for the Way of the Cross. The process will be led, along with mgr. Scicluna, by the emeritus archbishop, mgr. Cremona, and by the general vicar, mgr. Joe Galea Curmi. The “Week of Sacrifice” has been going on since last Friday, until Good Friday, March 30th: offerings are being collected in all churches of the archdiocese in support of social work for the needier ones. The archdiocesan news service also announced that all the celebrations for the Easter Triduum that mgr. Scicluna will be officiating in St John’s Cathedral will be broadcast live on the Youtube channel of the church in Malta.
