“Walking Church”

Luxembourg: young Catholics, the “Walking Church” inspired by respect for Creation and the “Laudato si’”

The young Catholics of Luxembourg will walk across the country the days just after Easter (from April 2nd to 6th), inspired by the “Laudato si’”. Four stopovers have been planned for this “Walking Church”, from Mersch to Luxembourg city, a bit on foot and a bit on public transport, in a “deliberately simple” style, the organisers explain. Every time they reach a stopover, they will go to Mass with the local community. To find out how to effectively live the recommendations of Pope Francis’s encyclical letter and what already happens in this respect, the pilgrims will visit an organic farm, “sheltered” workshops and a boutique of the world, will meet people engaged in sustainable productions, and will attend an event on fair trade. Every day, passages from the Pope’s encyclical letter will be examined and shared in groups. Those who may have problems going all the way may walk just a part of the pilgrimage. The initiative is organised by the youth pastoral service of the archdiocese.
