(Brussels) The figures released today by the statistical office of the EU, Eurostat, show that household income per capita in the euro area increased by 0.6% in the first quarter of 2019, after an increase of 0.4% in the previous quarter. Also household real consumption per capita increased by 0.4% in the first quarter of 2019 (after an increase of 0.1% in the fourth quarter of 2018). In the 28 EU Member States, household real income per capita increased by 0.3% in the first quarter of 2019 (the same as in the fourth quarter of 2018). Household real consumption remained stable, after an increase of 0.2% in the fourth quarter of 2018.
